One of Menhammar’s icons has left us

The Hall of Fame stallion {From Above} is now grazing in the ever-green pastures, as the 28-year-old has been put to sleep on health grounds.

{From Above} was the first horse to complete the treble of winning the Swedish Trotting Criterium, the Swedish Trotting Derby and then the Elitlopp as a five-year-old. His career included 23 victories from 38 starts and total earnings of SEK 8.3 million.

{From Above} was owned during his racing career by Hans Sundqvist (Stall H.G.S.), trained by Stefan Hultman, cared for by Nicklas Pettersson and driven in all 38 starts by Örjan Kihlström.

{From Above} retired to stud as a seven-year-old and, with his very first small crop (26 offspring), showed that he passed on his talent, attitude and strength. Five of them became millionaires, and Marshland earned over five million.

{From Above} has sired more than 50 millionaires, with leading names such as Brother Bill, Violetto Jet, Pastore Bob and Marshland. Both Brother Bill and Marshland were bred by Menhammar. In addition, {From Above} is the damsire of the Derby winners Who’s Who and Dream Mine.

{From Above} was awarded the value letter A – indicating very good hereditary qualities.

{From Above} was one of Margareta Wallenius-Kleberg’s personal favourites.
It is easy to understand why.
