Like a Dream

Most of us have probably carried one or more dreams with us through life. One person who has come a long way towards fulfilling one of her great life dreams is Inger Rådahl at Menhammar.

Jazzed and Inger

Inger has been a long-standing member of staff at Menhammar, having begun her employment there in 1997. She lives with her family – her husband Stefan and their sons Alex and Jack – in staff accommodation at Menhammar. To say that horses are a very great interest of hers would be something of an understatement.

On 17 August 2025, Inger took the plunge and set the wheels in motion to realise a major dream. On that date, the now annual Menhammar Online Sales took place, and Inger seized the opportunity to bid on – and secure – the then yearling colt Jazzed for 30,000 kronor. There was great jubilation among all the stud’s employees, as she had shared her dream with them. Jazzed is by San Moteur out of All Ears.

However, this story stretches back a long way, and we must return to 1998, when Inger and her then partner leased the two-year-old filly Dedicated (Smokin Yankee – Kind Attention) from Stall Segerhuva.

“Yes, it was a fantastic journey,” Inger recalls. “Dedicated began with four consecutive victories as a two-year-old before finishing fifth in the Swedish Breeders’ Crown after a gallop. She was a wonderful mare who earned just over 1.3 million kronor and is undoubtedly the foundation of my purchase of Jazzed. The fact that my children are now grown up enough for me to have the time to look after a horse in my spare time also played a significant role,” she continues.

The family line continues with Dedicated’s daughter Pay Attention (by Viking Kronos), who earned 682,700 kronor on the racecourse. Pay Attention’s first foal was All Ears, by Jocose – who is, in turn, the dam of Inger’s dream horse, Jazzed.

Jocose and Pay Attention

“Dedicated is absolutely the foundation of this purchase, and I’ve also had the pleasure of following Jazzed’s entire upbringing. Even as a foal he behaved beautifully and was never unruly, as some young horses can be. Always calm and fond of attention – I visited him every day, even when he was out at pasture. One thing I immediately fell for was his incredibly kind eyes; they completely won me over. I truly love this horse, and buying him is probably the best thing I’ve ever done. He is a dream horse for me,” Inger says warmly.

Jazzed

Inger is keen to emphasise that she has received a great deal of help with Jazzed from her colleague Carina Söderlund. Carina has assisted Inger with long-reining, breaking him to harness, and so on.

Carina also has a long history with trotters, having, among other things, looked after Enjoy Lavec during his racing career.

Jazzed is stabled at the staff yard near Menhammar, and at present Inger drives him three or four times a week, working along the forest track and on the training circuit. For now, Jazzed is jogging, but his training programme is gradually increasing.

“As I said, I truly love this horse. It feels as though it was meant to be this way,” Inger concludes.

Many of us are following Jazzed and Inger’s continued progress and keeping our fingers crossed for them!
