Double Derby Delight at Jägersro: Menhammar Stallions Shine

September 7th, Jägersro, Sweden – Sunday’s racing spectacle at Jägersro, featuring both the Swedish Trotting Derby and the Mare Derby, turned into a triumph for stallions stationed at Menhammar Stud.
The day kicked off with a promising start in the very first race—a two-year-old event—where Cruiser, daughter of Calgary Games, delivered a stylish victory under the guidance of trainer Johan Untersteiner.

S.G.Empress Claims Mare Derby Glory
The momentum continued in the Mare Derby, where S.G.Empress, sired by Readly Express, surged to victory. She was followed by Giraffa, bred and owned by Menhammar’s neighbour Annemanna, and sired by Maharajah. Giraffa launched with blistering speed from behind the starting gate for her trainer Conrad Lugauer, seizing the lead before yielding to S.G.Empress after 350 metres. From there, she tracked the winner impressively, securing second place and a handsome prize of one million kronor.
S.G.Empress is owned and bred by Skärgården Stuteri AB in Väddö, trained by Roger Walmann, and driven to victory by Rikard Skoglund.

Dream Mine Makes Derby History
The highlight of the day came in the Swedish Trotting Derby, where Dream Mine, son of Maharajah, etched his name into the history books. A golden cross with From Above as maternal grandsire, Dream Mine’s pedigree added extra sparkle to the win.
Owned by Norchi AB in Sala and bred by trainer Jörgen Westholm in partnership with Christer Nordin, Dream Mine was expertly driven by Mats Djuse to claim the prestigious title and a staggering four million kronor in prize money.
