About Menhammar
Menhammar Stuteri breeds, trains, races and sells first-class trotting horses. We also stand several high classed standardbred studs. Menhammar Gård (the farm) conducts sustainable agriculture and small-scale livestock farming for rotational grazing and to keep lakeside land open.
While this land has been home to one of Sweden’s most successful and prestigious studfarms for over 70 years, the farm itself dates back several centuries further. The land around Menhammar has been farmed for 800 years. The attractive location close to the water, the proximity to Stockholm and the fertile soil have combined to make Menhammar an ideal location for horse breeding and farming.
At Menhammar Farm, which forms the core of Menhammar Stud’s operations, there are around fifty broodmares with foals, approximately 60 yearlings, and 6 stallions. Other broodmares are located at nearby Granskog and Lindby on Adelsö, and a few at Stoner Creek in the USA. At Yttersta, also situated on Menhammar’s land, top-class training and racing activities are conducted under the direction of head trainer Conrad Lugauer. Assistant trotting trainer Pasi Aikio is also active at Yttersta. Both Menhammar-bred and other horses are trained here.
In total, around 60 people work on the farm.
Since June 2023, Lisa Skogh has been the responsible trotting trainer for the unit at Färjestad.
