– Alla tränare lever idag under hotet att hamna i en sådan här situation, där vi trots att vi försöker göra allt, ändå riskerar att våra hästar blir kontaminerade, säger Stefan Hultman. Våra behandlingsrutiner hanteras av vår veterinär och medicinförvaringen i stallet sköts till punkt och pricka, vi är alla otroligt noggranna. Jocose har inte stått på behandling med dessa medel. Det finns inte en chans att han skulle ha fått i sig det här på Yttersta, utan måste ha blivit kontaminerad någon annanstans. Jag är mycket, mycket olycklig över att en så fantastisk häst som Jocose råkar ut för det här.

 

– Jag behandlar överhuvudtaget inte hästarna med Ketoprofen som är ett vanligt läkemedel och används av framför allt människor - det finns inte i stallet, säger Nils Ronéus, ansvarig veterinär hos Stefan Hultman. Kortinsonpreparatet Betamethason används visserligen, men Jocose har inte stått på behandling med det. Jag vill inte spekulera i hur hästen kan ha blivit kontaminerad av varken det ena eller det andra ämnet.

 

– Det här är naturligtvis djupt olyckligt för Travkompaniet som ägare av hästen och för vårt koncept, säger Anders Lindh, VD i Travkompaniet. Denna och liknande händelser är inte bra för travsporten och dess aktörer i allmänhet, inte heller för oss och andra drabbade hästägare i synnerhet. Vi har fullt förtroende Stefan Hultman och hans medarbetare, som alltid och i alla sammanhang agerar professionellt och korrekt. Men när inte det räcker och vi ändå riskerar att våra hästar kontamineras på annat sätt känner man sig helt maktlös. Sedan känns det så oerhört tufft att det är just Jocose som råkar ut för det här, han om någon häst var värd att få kröna det här året med en titel. Han har redan innan finalen i Laval visat vilken fantastisk häst han är och han har ju testats 11 gånger tidigare i karriären. Men ingen kan någonsin ta ifrån hästen hans insats 15 oktober.

 

Jocose tillhörde under 2005 kulltoppen bland treåringar, med tredjeplatsen i Svenskt Travkriterium och seger i Big Noon-pokalen och Sören Nordins lopp som största meriter.
2006 har hästen utvecklats till en av de absolut bästa i kullen.
Hästen har kvalat till alla stora lopp och i bara en av årets 15 starter har hästen varit sämre än trea, då blev han fyra.
Bland de 15 starterna hittar vi seger i försök till Kungapokalen, trea i finalen. Trea i Fyraåringseliten, seger i försök till Sprintermästaren, tvåa i finalen. Tvåa i försök och final av Svenskt Travderby. Seger i försök och final av Grand Prix de l'UET 2006, Europaderbyt.

Enligt muntlig information under kvällen, 10 december, diskfalificeras Jocose och fråntas segern samt får startförbud till och med 31 december 2006.
Stefan Hultman får 3000 Euro i böter.
Skriftliga besked väntas komma under måndagen från Frankrike.

Communiqué on Jocose’s positive B-test after the victory of the European Derby, Grand Prix de L´UET.

 

Jocose, who won the European Derby, Grand Prix de L´UET, in Laval on October 15, tested positive in the routine check-up which is done after all races. The B-test showed traces of Ketoprofen, an anti-inflammatory substance, and Betamethason, a cortisone substance. Jocose has not been under treatment with any of these substances.

 

- Today all trainers face the threat of a situation like this, and despite that we try our best, the horses still risk to be contaminated, says Stefan Hultman. Our treatment procedures are handled by our veterinary and routines for storing medicines are strictly followed. Jocose has not been under treatment with these substances. There is absolutely no possibility that he could have gotten the substance in his system here at Yttersta, which means that he must have been contaminated elsewhere. I’m very, very unhappy about that such a fantastic horse like Jocose is hit by this.

 

- I don’t treat the horses with Ketoprofen which is a commonly used substance, mostly used on people – it cannot be found in the stables, says Nils Ronéus, veterinary in charge with Stefan Hultman. The cortisone substance Betamethason though is used, but Jocose has not been under treatment with this substance. I do not wish to speculate in how the horse could have been contaminated by either substance.

 

- This is of course a deeply unhappy situation for Travkompaniet, both as owners of the horse and for our concept, says Anders Lindh, President Travkompaniet. This, and similar incidents, are of course not good at all for the trotting business and its actors in general, and particularly not for us as affected horse owners. We have full confidence in Stefan Hultman and his co-workers, who always act professionally and correctly. But when that isn’t enough and we still face the risk of getting our horses contaminated we feel completely powerless. It also feels extremely hard that it is Jocose of all horses which is hit by this, he if anyone really deserved to be crowned this year with a title. Already before the final in Laval he has showed what a fantastic horse he is and he has been tested eleven (11) times earlier in his career. But no one can take his achievement on October 15 from him.

 

In 2005, Jocose belonged to the top of his crop among three year olds, with a third place in “Svenskt Travkriterium” and victory in both the Big Noon Cup and Sören Nordin’s as his greatest achievements.
During 2006, the horse has developed to become one of the best in his crop.
The horse has qualified to all big races and he has only ended up worse than third (fourth place) in one of this year’s 15 starts. Among these 15 starts are victories in the qualifying heat to the final of “Kungapokalen” and third in the final. Third place in the “Fyraåringseliten”, victory in his heat to “Sprintermästaren”, he came in second in the final. He also came in second in both the qualifying heat and the final of “Svenskt Travderby”. Victory in both the qualifying heat and the final of Grand Prix de l’UET 2006, “The European Derby”.

 

In the official statistics from STC, Swedish Trotting Central association, Jocose’s prize money from the final of Grand Prix de l’UET was SEK 2.171,545.
